Free Image Color Palette Extractor

Upload any photo and Colorpickee instantly extracts its most dominant colors into a clean palette. Perfect for designers matching brand colors to photography, or developers building theme systems from artwork.

All processing happens locally in your browser — your images are never uploaded to any server.

Smart Extraction Algorithm

We use a greedy farthest-point algorithm seeded from your image's most saturated color, ensuring your palette covers the full color space of the image — not just the most-common single hue.

Sort results by hue, brightness, or saturation to organize colors however you need them.

Export in 6 Formats

Copy individual HEX codes with one click, or export the full palette as CSS Variables, SCSS, JSON, Tailwind config, SVG Swatches, or Plain Text.

Privacy — 100% Client-Side

Your images never leave your device. No uploads, no server processing, no storage. The algorithm runs entirely in your browser using HTML Canvas.

No account required. No file size limits. Completely free.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many colors can I extract?

Between 4 and 16 colors using the slider. For most images, 6–10 colors gives the best balance.

Why does the palette look different from what I expected?

The algorithm extracts statistically dominant, maximally-distinct colors. Try cropping to the area of interest for more targeted results.

What image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, SVG — or paste any image from your clipboard with Ctrl+V.

Is there a file size limit?

No server-side limit. Very large images may take a moment depending on your device's memory.
